Job Position Purpose / Summary
Working with the Financial Controller, the FP&A Manager will provide management with timely financial reports and analysis which accurately reflect the performance and integrity of the operation, and directly participate in business strategy development, short term planning and forecasting, performance measurement, decision making and implementation to facilitate the achievement of divisional and corporate objectives.
This position is a key business partner to the country commercial team and leads the discussion and assessment of current performance to senior managers in financial terms, forecasts future performance, and analyses the financial impact of alternative tactical and strategic choices and makes recommendations on the best course of action to enable the business to meet its financial and business objectives. The position also supports the business by providing routine reporting and other analysis in areas such as month and quarter-end reviews, budgeting and forecasting, pricing and tender submissions, new product introductions, operating expenses forecasting
This position requires a highly developed working relationship with a range of different people in the business including general management, marketing, sales, operations, research, supply chain, IT and the other finance functions acting as a central liasion between these groups to faciliate a robust planning forecast is delivered.
Job Position Accountabilities / Expectations
Responsibility Area One (40%): Business Strategy and Partnering
Major Action:
• Lead the development and formulation of Strategic & Business plans by providing management with financial expertise, advise and recommendations. Challenge business assumptions through analysis of performance, trends, market dynamics, pricing and cost changes
• Facilitate sound business decisions consistent with corporate objectives leading to the achievement of business results.
• Working closely with the leadership team to formulate the business’s medium to long term financial and strategic plan
• Review of existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement
• Provide insights to senior management around financial modelling, forecasts and profitability

• Quality of recommendations – accuracy, timeliness, presentation and customer satisfaction

Responsibility Area Two (50%): Financial and Business Analysis
Major Action:
• Provide management with financial information and other metrics and analyses to understand past business unit performance; forecast future performance and measure progress towards implementation of strategy.
• Evaluating previous budgets and forecasts to develop and implement future budgets
• To ensure the provision of timely, accurate and consistent evaluation of financial performance.
• Manage key financial processes for the region, including forecasting, budget planning, performance reporting, and others.
• Architect financial commentaries and documents to support key financial deliverables.
• Develop new processes or improve existing processes relating to financial planning/reporting in conjunction with the corporate FP&A team
• Support ad hoc projects and help define systems improvements to support growth.
• Apply an analytical approach to influence strategic decision-making, with a focus on cost and profitability aligned with long-term financial planning.
• Provide financial analysis and commentary to inform senior management

Responsibility Area Three (10%): World Class Finance
Major Action:
• Identify and implement recommendations that optimise business and financial processes and improve internal controls and other business practices.
• To optimise the cost and time to report.
• To improve business processes and relationships.
• To ensure compliance with Corporate policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Essential: Mandatory to ensure the job is done effectively and efficiently
• Professional and degree qualification in Accounting & Finance.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant senior business analytical experience.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in an unstructured environment.
• Strong influencing skills, able to challenge stakeholders at all levels of the company
• Sound knowledge of Excel.
• Fluent Japanese & English conversation language skills
• Good written and oral communication skills (Japanese and English), able to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and in a way that promotes understanding to both finance and non finance team members
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills necessary to motivate, mentor, inform and challenge others, as well as maintain a strong working relationship with senior management and other functions within the company.
Desirable: Not essential but generally considered to be required to do the job proficiently.
• Exposure to a variety of business functions and to the finance function.
• Experience of using SAP (PCA/CCA/COPA), BW, Hyperion and Microsoft Excel to a high level.
